Women, Race and Class - Angela Y Davis

The RAG issue #1 - Rag
The Rag is produced by the revolutionary anarcha-feminist group based in Dublin. It is a zine which covers many aspects of feminism within anarchism, starting from the standpoint that although anarchism should in theory be inherently feminist, in reality it often isn't. Covering a wide variety of topics in areas such as health, sexual violence, and sex work, and drawing on personal experience, The RAG is an inspirational and vital addition to anarchism and feminism. (A4 Z, £2.50)

Witches, midwives and nurses, a history of women healers - Barbara Ehrenreich and Deirdre English
This is a fascinating study of the European history of women as healers from the Middle Ages through to the Twentieth century. The authors show how women's roles in health are inextricably linked to our oppression as women, to the deep-rooted institutionalised class system and to monopolies of knowledge. (Z £2)
Complaints and disorders, the sexual politics of sickness - Barbara Ehrenreich, Deirdre English
Focuses on the increasing consolidation of medicine as a male dominated profession in conjunction with the increasing medicalisation of women's bodies from the early 20th century to the 1970's in the U.S. It is a sharp analysis that demonstrates that the medical system is a powerful instrument of social control. (B £5)

This is a call to disrupt the 'manufactured spectacle' within which we live whilst rightly highlighting that much rebellion is itself part of the very spectacle it is fighting. Great little pamphlet that is part of The Spectacular Times series, explains Situationism and The Spectacle and its relevance to feminism. (Z 50p)
The Tragedy of Woman's Emancipation - Emma Goldman
